Craftsman FlutesUnique Design and Painstaking Detail at a Reasonable Price. The Craftsman style Love flutes are made from an attractive combination of two different types of wood. The two species of wood are joined together at a forty-five degree angle. This creates an attractive design statement. It also makes for a more stable glue joint than the butt jointed end caps you see on most other Native American style flutes. The shape of the Craftsman flute is slightly more refined than that of the Backpacker flute. With the Craftsman flutes more time is devoted to each detail of construction and finish. I try and make this high quality musical instrument available at a reasonable price so that anyone can have a truly beautiful Love flute in their life.
Zebrawood and Wenge Native American Style FluteThis Native American style flute is made of two strikingly attractive African hardwoods. It is the most popular flute that I make. The tonal quality of a flute made in these two medium dense hardwoods tends to be on the mellow side. The flute is also lighter in weight than the flutes made of denser wood like purpleheart and bubinga. Because zebrawood is so expensive the price is a little higher than the other Craftsman Love flutes.

Because the purpleheart barrel of the flute is a dense hardwood the flute tends to have a slightly brighter, stronger tone.

Because the barrel of the flute is made of the medium dense walnut the tonal quality is a bit mellower than some of the denser wood flutes. The flute is also a bit lighter in weight than the purpleheart or bubinga.

It is a close, tight-grained medium dense hardwood with lovely, subtle grain patterns. Its reddish tan color mellows and darkens with age. Bubinga is a very dense, close-grained hardwood from Africa. It has an attractive grain pattern. The finish on this Love flute is smooth and lusterous. Native American flutes made of cherry wood tend to be on the mellower side and to be slightly lighter in weight.
